Google Assistant Will Let You Search for a Uber Ride
Google has announced they will be adding a new feature to Google Assistant: the ability to use Uber, Lyft or other similar services just by using your voice.
The tech company already provided a degree of integration with transportation services but only through Google Maps. This new feature’s aim is to make the experience smoother, instead of having to go through every step via the Maps app.
The feature is already available in areas where you can find these services. You just need to search for a ride using Google Assistant with Google Home or any type of phone. If you own an iPhone you’ll need to get the Google Assistant app from the iStore.
How to use this new feature:
- If you use Android or Google Home say “Hey Google”. iPhone users need to open the app.
- Ask for a ride saying: “Get me a ride to the airport.”
- If you want to use a specific service say something like “Hey Google, get me an Uber to the airport.”
- The Assistant will show you the cost of the ride. If everything’s okay confirm by opening your phone.
If your area has ride services but this feature is not available, just wait a week or so. We’re told that although is already out there, is rolling slowly across different territories.
